A teacher at Olosurutia School in Kiserian, Kajiado County, is among 32 recipients of the Golisano Health Leadership Award from Special Olympics.
Edith Nthiga was awarded for her exemplary leadership skills in promoting health of athletes with intellectual disabilities. The awards comes as Kenya prepares to defend the floor hockey title at the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Graz, Austria next month.
Special Olympics Kenya are grateful for prestigious award. Nthiga helped to restore physical health athlete, Salma Kaka, who gained the ability to walk after one year of relentless physical exercise. “Kaka’s lower limbs were weak and she could not walk, but with the help of regular physical exercises that I conducted on her she was able to gain her walking skills,” Nthiga said.
