Suspect implicated in attack on Editor's family remanded

The suspect implicated in a violent attack targeting the family of Standard Group Editor Evelyne Kwamboka has been remanded at the Kisii Remand Prison.

This is after Senior Resident Magistrate Christabel Agutu declared that Job Morara is a flight risk after failing to attend a previous court sitting.

Morara, who was arrested at his home, failed to convince the court of the reason he missed attending a previous sitting.

He told the court he was unwell but admitted he did not have any medical records to authenticate the claim.

Yesterday, the magistrate directed the police to take the suspect for a medical checkup at Nyamira Referral Hospital and deliver him to Kisii Remand Prison.

Morara has been accused of attacking Kwamboka's mother, Faustine Moraa Kiage, at her shop in Nyamaiya town on November 30, 2023, alongside two other suspects.

Morara was charged alongside Francis Ouru Oruko and Kevin Mogy Thomas, for violently robbing Moraa of Sh22,000. They all denied committing the offense.

The suspects are expected to appear in court on April 9 when an application challenging a prebail report will be heard.
