The Government has announced measures aimed at controlling traffic and overcrowding during this year's Mashujaa Celebrations at Gusii Stadium.

Nyanza Regional Commissioner Magu Mutindika says security personnel have set different drop points outside the town.

All passengers coming from Nairobi through Kisii-Sotik road will be dropped at Kisii University and Agricultural Training Institute.

Those travelling from Kisumu will alight at Daraja Mbili and Nyambera Primary while those from Migori will not go beyond Nyanchwa Primary and Nyanchwa SDA College.

Motorists from Nyamira will be picked and dropped at Jogoo primary. "Enough security personnel have been deployed to ensure total compliance of the measures."

Muthidika further announced that all those who will be entering the stadium have been issued with cards. "We cannot break COVID-19 protocols because these are global set standards. About 4,000 people will around inside the Stadium."

"Politicians have been invited to the celebrations and we will not entertain any  misconduct from any quarters."

10 screens have been placed at different points in Kisii town while a dome tent has been erected at Kisii Golf Course and will accommodate 8,000 people.
