Big entry for Coast Open junior swimming gala

Coast Open Junior swimming gala is set for this weekend in Mombasa and the participants will use the event to prepare for Invitational championships in South Africa.

Over 200 swimmers have registered for the weekend gala and Coast Amateur Swimming Association (CASA) has named 49 swimmers, who include two siblings Caroline and Telvin Kameta, set for the South Africa Level One swimming championships thought it will not be one of the qualifying events for the Olympics Games in London.

Casa Vice-Chairman Mehboob Harunani said the Saturday and Sunday championships at Aga Khan Academy of Mombasa will gauge the swimmers preparedness for the South Africa events.

Harunani said Coastal Bottlers Ltd have once again boosted the association by sponsoring the South Africa tour.

The vice-chairman also announced the entry of Bid Daddy, Natures Cool, Jay Kay Mechanical Engineering and Nanak Engineering as new co-sponsors of the association’s activities this season. Others are Guardian Bank, Wapewe, Kijani Hotel – Lamu, Nairobi Sports House, Techbiz, Maheer Motors, Wild Waters, Coast Week and Texas Alarms have also extended their sponsorship partnership with the association.

The final team for Level One are Sote Chemgorem, Urvi Dayal, Caroline Kameta, Sabrina Kassam Malindi Vaughan, Telvin Kameta, Karan Khagram, Abdulhalim Mabisi, Njuguna Njau, Kishan Patel, Mansur Pirbhai, Preet Salva, Catherine Mason, Justine Nelson, Aisha Oberson, Samira Oberson, Abdulrahman Abeid, Alain Fontana, Trevor Maina, Emmanuel Mtuweta, Alexander Onyango, Danilo Rosafio, Soud Rashid, Harsh Shah, Suhail Yusuf, Nabiha Shikely and Zainab Ibrahim.

Others are Maahir Harunani, Michale Momanyi, Chantalle Kariuki, Binca Mwanka, Mary Stahlenburg, Michael Okata, Jerome Waudo, Violet George, Mahima Patel, Ria Sanghavi, Jasmeen Alibhai, Liam Alibhai, Mohamed Ali, Swaleh Salim, Wairimu Crystal Maina, Allison Mocellin, Mischell Rosafio, Ben Clark, Reinout Sanders, Junior Took, Alain Fontanta, Shoraua Ole Kina.

Those in Level Two are Maria Brunlehner, Melody Chiu, Chloe Dhanji, Emily Muteti, Mudathir Timamy, Katie White, Diya Shah, Ridhwan Abubaker, Burhanuddin Chandabhai, Flavio Fontana, Saahil Harunani, Oliver Holdingfay, Abdulmajid Kadernani, Nobby Obuya, Mbarak Chitta, Matteo Rosafio, Deeyn Shah, Nabil Shikely, Omar Talib, Swaleh Talib, Shivraj Vaghela, and Shaan Vora.

Tony Pragassa and Hamdan Bayusuf are the only two swimmers in Level Three.
