Victims of the Matuu bus accident are set to receive support from a Sh6 million kitty set aside by the Mandera County Government.

Mandera Governor Ali Roba said the money, being part of the county disaster fund, will assist families of the 14 dead and 27 others who were injured.

Roba said Sh3 million will be used to support families who lost their loved ones, while the other half will cater for medical bills of the survivors.

The governor said the majority of the victims were residents of Mandera including his own security detail. Roba said the deceased aide was heading to Nairobi for official duty.

“I have lost one of my security officers in the accident. The late Ibrahim Issack was a dedicated police officer who executed his duties diligently. I extend sincerest condolences to the family and to the National Police Service,” said Roba.
