Maurice Okoth lands KAMP top job, promises change upon assuming office.

In a bid to further improve their operations, The Kenya Association of Music Producers, KAMP, the body representing the rights and interests of producers of sound recordings, has introduced a new face to their management.

In a quarterly newsletter, the body's board through its chairperson Antony Murimi has named CS. Maurice Mwande Okoth as its new Chief Executive Officer.

"We know that under his leadership KAMP will continue its strong record of progress," the statement read in part. "Maurice, a specialist in intellectual property, is an experienced executive with a career spanning over 20 years."

In his new role, he will be in charge of administering Copyright Rights on behalf of members besides promoting the interests of producers of sound recordings and Audio-visual works through collection of license fees and distribution of royalties.

In his remarks, Okoth expressed his gratitude and thanked the board for believing in the experience he has acquired, promising to steer the body to greater heights. "This is to new beginnings, and I must say I'm glad to be serving in a capacity that I'm extremely passionate about. Together, we'll soar." He assumes office with immediate effect replacing his predecessor, Dr. Mbugua Njoroge who has been serving as the body's Chief Executive since July 1st, 2021. Maurice has been actively involved in the tapping and nurturing of talent through his input in various interactive programmes countrywide under the Talanta Mtaani blanket.

He previously served as the C.E.O of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya for close to a decade where he oversaw its growth from a small collective management organization to a large regionally respected CMO with over twelve thousand members, up from less a handful of members collecting less than a million shillings.
