The Transmara South Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Abdihakim Mohamud who was caught on tape threatening to call terror group members to the region has been sent on leave.
According to Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde, Mr Mohamud was sent on leave for 30 days in order to give room for police to conduct investigations into the incident.
"He claims the video was doctored and the matter has since been taken up by the DCI," said Masinde.
He added that normalcy has since returned in the area and that police have been conducting patrols after locals invaded a piece of land that belonged to Mohamud.
Mr Maside said that Mohamud had planted tea, and blue gum trees and was rearing cattle as well as growing maize and beans in the said piece of land.
Masinde assured the locals that Mr Mohamud will not interfere with investigations.
In the incident which was recorded via a mobile phone, Mohamud can be seen telling the people he is in an argument with, that he will rally the Al Shabaab terror group member to spend the night at the place.
"Kitu mimi nakudhibitishia leo mimi na kundi langu tutakuja kulala hapa. Al Shabaab itakuwa hapa italipuka," he says. [I can assure you that today my group will spend the night here, Al Shabaab will be here and it will explode]
The cause of the argument between the DCC and the people he is addressing and who recorded him is a piece of land, that he said he bought James Laton Konchellah.
Unhappy about the sale the children of Konchellah rushed to court and sued Mohamud, seeking to repossess the piece of land.
According to court papers, the size of land that Konchella transferred to Mahmoud is approximately 24 acres.
The Kilgoris Environment and Lands Court Judge Emmanuel Washe on March 23, 2023, ruled against Mohamud observing that the transfer and subdivision of the said land was illegal.
He further directed Mohamud to vacate the piece of land in 30 days, failure to which an eviction order would be issued.
The DCC then moved to a higher court to challenge the decision and orders were granted to stay the eviction until the case is heard and determined.
