President William Ruto has handed State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed a fully-fledged office in a new Executive Order.

The Office of the State House Spokesperson has been delinked from the Office of the Presidential Communication Secretary (PCS).

In the previous order, State House Spokesperson Mohammed was appointed to be the Deputy to PCS Head David Mugonyi.

The development now means there shall be an established Executive Office of the State House Spokesperson under the Office of the President. A source said the Executive Order removes the bureaucracy that would characterise such a sensitive and high-profile office.

"The Order removes the long processes and streamlines communication in the high office. We expect a seamless flow of information and less bureaucracy because of fewer and clear reporting lines," said the source.

According to the Executive Order, the State House Spokesperson will be the accounting officer and will be leading a team of communicators, researchers, think tanks and interface with other arms of government including the Executive and Legislature as he strives to articulate President Ruto's agenda.

Mohammed, a broadcast journalist, was tapped by the President to head his presidential campaign before he transitioned to State House Spokesperson.
