President William Ruto has given a list of projects his government is working on, including the construction of 1000 dams in the country.

He said the dams' projects will be implemented under a Public-Private partnership program, although only the building of 100 had started.

The president was speaking at a thanksgiving service at Kabarnet ASK, Baringo County on Sunday afternoon where he said he planned to empower over six million livestock farmers who will need water for their livestock.

"We plan to empower about 6 million livestock to farmers to boost our food production. That is why we plan to build more dams for water to be used for irrigation, at home, and for livestock," the president said.

He added that the state settled on a partnership with private entities because money from the National Treasury's budget is not enough to cover the projects.

"In Baringo, there are Radat, Amaya, Beregei, Kimwarer, and Arror dams which we plan to build for residents to have water. There is a plan to set up 1000 dams but only 100 have been kicked off,"

"Kerio Valley can be used for farming but since it lacks water and there is no dam, people count losses there. We are committed to ending water problems in Baringo, West Pokot, and Turkana,"

Moreover, the president also promised the construction of between 5,000 and 10, 000 housing units in Baringo County, with the help of Pension Scheme firms.

"We are coming to parliament to ask you to pass the housing funds so that we can able to support this project,"

According to the Head of State, he had inked a deal with the United States of America for the leather market.

" The Cabinet agreed last week to revive and support cotton growing in the Rift, Western, Nyanza, and Eastern regions. From next month, we have a ready market in the USA for cotton products,"

"We agreed to sell only three per cent of the products and we will add more space with time. We need farmers in the value chain to benefit Kenyans and create youth employment,"

He has also intimated that his government has land in Naivasha, where it plans to put up a leather industry.
