Religious leaders say Kenyans will be closely watching the quality of leadership embraced by President-elect William Ruto's administration.

On Tuesday, religious leaders led by PCEA General Assembly Moderator Rev Thegu Mutahi urged Ruto not to seek vengeance against his political opponents, but instead focus on uniting Kenyans regardless of their political affiliation.

"As a president, you will be a symbol of national unity, we urge you to be a leader of all Kenyans regardless of their political, ethnic or religious leanings by demonstrating in words and deeds, justice and equality," Mutahi said.

Inter-Religious Council of Kenya Chairperson, Fr. Joseph Mutie called on all elected leaders to be at the forefront of the fight against corruption.

"Do not destroy our country through corrupt and selfless gains...rather, in humility and sense of service focus on the wholesome development of the nation," he appealed.

He did, however, express confidence that Ruto's administration would instil hope and dignity in all.

On Monday, September 5, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya leader Raila Odinga to uphold Ruto's victory.

The judges ruled unanimously that Ruto was duly elected in the August 9 General Election.

A series of activities are expected to take place in the next week leading up to the inauguration of Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua as President and Deputy President respectively.

The duo will be sworn in on Tuesday, September 13, at the Kasarani stadium in Nairobi.
