By Antony Gitonga

The Government has formed a taskforce to investigate cases of donkey theft and slaughter in Naivasha.

The task force is tasked with establishing how the animals are stolen, slaughtered and sold to the public in meat outlets.

It is illegal to sell donkey meat in butcheries in the country.

The new development came as residents in the lakeside town found three more carcasses of donkeys last Monday bringing to 40 the number killed  in the last one month.

According to Patterson Njiru, the Naivasha District Veterinary officer, the taskforce aims at looking for ways to curb the rising cases of donkey theft.

He said Kenya Wildlife Service, Public Health and Provincial Administration are in the taskforce.
