Major traffic is expected between Mlolongo to Athi River interchange from Tuesday, July 11 to Sunday, July 16, following the planned closure of the Mombasa-bound carriageway.

In a public notice, Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced that the closure will take place on the said dates between 10pm and 4am, to allow for maintenance works.

"KeNHA wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of a section of the Mombasa-bound carriageway between Mlolongo (near Expressway exit) to Athi River interchange from Tuesday, July 11 to Sunday, July 16.

“Normal traffic shall be restored daily upon completion of works at 4:30am,” the authority stated.

According to the notice signed by KeNHA Director General Engineer Kung'u Ndungu, traffic will be diverted to share one lane of the dual carriageway.

Motorists have been advised to approach the section with caution and to follow the traffic signs and guidance as directed by traffic marshals and police.
