Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has directed Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to furnish him with the report into allegations of police misconduct as seen in a viral clip in which a man complains of police misconduct.

Matiang'i in a tweet instructed Mutyambai and Nairobi Regional Police Commander Philip Ndolo to furnish him with the report before 3 pm on Sunday.

“This alleged incident has been brought to my attention. Consequently, I have instructed Hillary Mutyambai, and the Nairobi Regional Police Commander, Philip Ndolo, to furnish me with a report by 1500hrs today (10th May),” he said.

In the clip, a man who confronted a group of police officers manning a checkpoint around Riruta is heard complaining to the cops for vandalising his truck.

Despite the armed officers trying to intimidate him with a whip, the driver stood his ground and brandished documents authorizing him to move past curfew hours.

“Don’t beat me, just tell me why you are vandalising my truck, Madam, why have you damaged my car? Let us go to the police station, you have to pay this,” the man shouted as one of the officers confronted him with a whip.

The driver insisted that the female officer should accompany him to the police station so that they can lodge a complaint about the damage.

The officers defended one of their own telling the driver that he was free to record a statement that the female officer was busy and could not accompany him to the station.

“I have documents allowing me to transport thing past curfew hours, why then do you damage my truck? This thing will not go unpunished if you,” he shouted as the police left him at the scene.

The man continued shouting at the officers and the officers dared him to do what he wants.

“Go ahead and do what you want,” the officers are heard shouting at him as they leave him complaining.
