Fire razes Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums leaving many displaced.

One child was killed while 13 others are nursing injuries after fire razed down houses at Commercial slums in Nairobi County.

More than 200 families were left homeless following the fire incident on Saturday. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. The seven year old boy was in their house when he was caught up, police said.

Fire fighters from Nairobi County managed to put out the fire but after it had flattened many structures.

Those affected have asked for help to reconstruct the structures.

Meanwhile, police are looking for a gang that raided a private residence in Gigiri area and robbed the owner of his gun and 120 rounds of ammunition, assorted jewelry, laptops and CCTV camera decoder and cash.

The two armed men were wearing balaclava when they raided the home of the 75-year-old businessman at the weekend. The gang escaped without injuring anyone.

Police suspect the gang had prior information on the presence of the weapon and jewelry in the house. A hunt on them is ongoing.
