One of the suspects in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno is seeking court's intervention to get medical attention.

Casper Ojwang' (pictured), who was charged alongside Governor Okoth Obado and the latter's PA Michael Oyamo following Sharon's murder, claims despite being critically ill he has not received treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) due to a debt the prisons department owes the hospital.

In a letter addressed to the President of Court of Appeal William Ouko and filed in court, Ojwang' discloses that his lung has collapsed.

The letter was received by the court on December 3.

"The ongoing impasse has led to our client's health to continue to deteriorate and his position worsens every day," the letter written by his lawyer Jack Oronga reads.

Ojwang's condition was confirmed in a separate letter by prison authorities, who say he was referred to KNH after his health failed to improve, but was turned back.

Ojwang' claims he has been left to die at Kamiti Prison.

“I have been left at the mercy of nature wherein I continue to wilt, deteriorate and die a slow and painful death,” his letter to Justice Ouko read.

The letters were filed in an appeal where Ojwang' and Oyamo want the Court of Appeal to reverse the High Court's decision to deny them bail.
