Businessman Brian Yongo charged with forgery

Businessman Brian Yongo on Monday denied charges of forging a logbook to obtain a Sh4 million loan from a micro-finance institution.

Yongo was in the news in August this year for suing former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo over a Sh20 million debt.

Yongo has been accused of submitting a forged logbook for a Range Rover as security for a loan from Mwananchi Credit Limited.

The second count stated that on November 24, 2016, at Ecobank Towers, Nairobi, he fraudulently uttered a forged logbook to Anne Mukami Muturi purporting it to be genuine.

Yongo was also charged with obtaining false documents contrary to the law.

Intent to defraud

The court heard that on November 24, 2016, at Family Bank, Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi, with intent to defraud Mwananchi Credit Limited of Sh4 million, he submitted the logbook pretending that it was genuine.

In the last count, Yongo was charged with being in possession of suspected stolen property contrary to the law.

The court was informed that on October 27, 2018 at Ecobank Towers, Yongo had in his possession a black Range Rover Sport suspected to be stolen.

He was released on Sh500,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh300,000. The case will be heard on November 27, 2018.
