KIRINYAGA: The Nairobi County Government has finalised plans to issue tittle deeds to over 19,000 members of the Embakasi Ranching Scheme, Governor Evans Kidera has said.

The Governor said the issuance of the tittle will soon be presided over by the Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta whom he described as a personal friend.

Kidero also said those members who occupied and built on the ranch without the required approval documents have now a chance to make fresh applications.

He said those affected will benefit from a regularization Bill the County Government has since passed which will enable them to make the required application and have their buildings approved.
Kidero also said those already settled on the Ranch, will upon submitting their applications have their building inspected using their share certificates.

''But those who have built their houses without following the laid down procedures and standards will have to bring the structures down or else our bulldozers will demolish them as we did at Huruma,'' he said.

Speaking at Mutithi village in Kirinyaga County during the burial ceremony of Corporal James Irungu Mwangi of the Administration Police on Friday, Kidero urged Kenyans to shun violence and tolerate one another.

''I urge Kenyans to emulate the way members of the Embakasi Ranch co-exists together despite coming from all the 42 tribes in the country,'' he said.

He said as leaders '' our role is to consult the people, and should not impose our interests on them but rather add value and to make a difference in their lives''.

Area governor Joseph Ndathi on his part urged Kenyans to respect the role security officers play in the society and take them as their own.

He said some quarters view the security officers as their enemies yet '' these are our own children, brothers and sisters ''.

Ndathi also said due to the recent insecurity caused by incidents of explosive devised being planted in the churches, no one should oppose being flicked while entering such places of worship.
Area County Commissioner Erastus Ekidor said the war against illicit liquor was almost won though there were still some pockets of brewers.

He said he has put in motion concerted efforts of the area Nyumba Kumi initiative, Community Policing and security personnel to ensure the social vice has been completely eradicated.
