The National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse has identified the Namanga border as one of the main entry points for drugs. The authority also pointed to the Tanzanian Coast near the border with Kenya as another major entry point for cocaine and heroin.
This came a day after officers from the anti-narcotics unit nabbed two women with eight kilogrammes of suspected heroin along the Nairobi-Namanga road.
While praising the officers for the arrest, Nacada boss John Mututho noted the cases could be more, with traffickers opting for Namanga. “Tanzania has a big sea front and the traffickers use small boats to ferry drugs,” he said.
