Police issue alert for child who went missing at Nairobi’s Impala Club

Nairobi, Kenya: Police have issued a missing-child alert for a four-and-a-half-year-old Jonathan Wasike, who went missing at the Impala Club in Nairobi on Sunday.

Jonathan was playing at the kids’ playground with other children, before he went missing.

The father, Jeremiah Ndombi, said the parents had left the child for a short-time shortly after they had had their lunch, only for them to return and find the child missing.

“We were at the Club for lunch. After the meals, Jonathan went out to play with other children. I left the playground for a very short time… it took like ten minutes. When I came back, the boy was gone! He was the only one missing in a large group of children!” said the distraught father, in an interview with The Standard.

Jonathan was last seen at 3pm wearing a pair of brown long-trousers torn at the knees and a red-striped hooded jacket, the father said.

The family has been camping at Impala Club waiting to review the footage from the Closed-Circuit Television Cameras covering all the entrances and exits into the club. They reported the matter to Kilimani Police Station and to the Criminal Investigation Department.

Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam confirmed that the matter had been reported and urged the public to volunteer any information regarding the lost child.
