Angry residents set ablaze vehicle that killed pedestrian along Nairobi’s Mbagathi Way

Nairobi, Kenya: Irate mob Sunday morning set ablaze a vehicle after it knocked down and killed a pedestrian along Mbagathi Way in Nairobi.

The tragic incident occurred when a man was hit while crossing the road carrying luggage at a point near Riara University. Witnesses say the deceased was assisting his uncle who was travelling upcountry transport belongings.

The driver alighted after hitting the man who died on the spot. It is at this juncture that witnesses became rowdy and he had to run for his life. The vehicle immediately went up in flames and police who arrived controlled the public from going near the burning vehicle.

A mattress that the deceased was carrying on his shoulders lay beside his lifeless body.

The accident caused heavy traffic snarl up.
