Retired President Mwai Kibaki calls on students to embrace good morals

NAIROBI; KENYA:  Retired President Mwai Kibaki has urged students to embrace good values and discipline in order to excel in their studies.

He said the virtues are important ingredients in the formation of national character among the students.

 Speaking on Saturday at Starehe Boys Centre during the institution’s 54th Founders’ Day, the retired president asked parents and guardians to play a leading role in moulding the behaviour of their children.

 He said that the young persons must be encouraged in all ways to continue with their education and be dependable citizens in future; a role the former President said should not be left to teachers alone.

 The retired President asked all stakeholders in the education sector to enhance their contribution and enable all school going children remain in schools.

 The former President praised the strong management structures at Starehe Boys Centre that have enabled the learning institution excel in its aspirations.

 He said the good practices and values of the centre have effectively provided leadership and academic skills to many boys from poor backgrounds who are now leaders in key sectors of the economy.

 “The founder of Starehe Boys Centre had deep in their heart an invaluable intention to provide an opportunity for destitute young Kenyans to acquire education that would prepare them take up roles of responsibility in national building of the country,” he said.
