Vipingo opens on July 1

Vipingo Ridge, a par 72-hole course on the Kenyan Coast, will be opened to golfers from July 1.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ridge, Alistair Cavenagh, said yesterday the first 18-hole championship course named Baobab course will be played from the first day of July.

"This achievement, whilst far from denoting the end of the construction at the Ridge, signifies a major step forward to achieving our goal of placing Kenya firmly on the map as a golfing destination, thereby adding a string to the country bow for tourist attraction," said Cavanagh.

He dispelled the notion that the course is strictly for members, saying that non-members will also be allowed to play against payment of a green fee.
