Clan banishes family as it accuses woman of disrespecting in-laws

She reported the matter at Kariene Police Station in a bid to have the attackers arrested but no action has been made yet.

The expulsion of Doris Kirimi and her children from their village was after clan leaders met and decreed that she be sent away for showing disrespect to her in-laws.

Ms Kirimi has been forced to move from her house, which her brothers-in-law and their friends damaged and ransacked.

She reported the matter at Kariene Police Station in a bid to have the attackers arrested but no action has been made yet.

Doris claims her attackers also stole Sh200,000 which she and her husband Peter Kirimi planned to spend to buy building materials.

She claims 100 people belonging to the Abongiri clan held a meeting on April 8 where she was accused of insulting and beating her parents-in-law.

“They accused me of spraying insecticide on my mother and father in-law.

They did not give me an opportunity to defend myself,” said Doris.
