NAIROBI, KENYA: Eugene Mburu Mwangi, who scored 446 marks in last years’ Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination, has been awarded a four-year school fee sponsorship by Royal Mabati Limited.

“I am so happy to be recognised by such a great company who is out to ensure that the boy child’s future is well protected. I will work very hard and bring more joy to my family and the company,”Mwangi said.

The 14-year old boy from Effort Junior Academy scored 446 marks to emerge the top candidate in Kirinyaga County and the best boy nationally.

Speaking during the awarding ceremony at the company premises in Nairobi, Moses Kang’arua the General Manager of Royal Mabati Limited noted that the boy child has been left out and it is time to protect their future.

“Women empowerment has so far been a great achievement following the vigorous campaigns and guidelines initiated globally, with a solitary endeavor to safeguard, uplift and empower the rights and status of the girl child. On the contrary, boy child has been forgotten. As a result, they have been rendered or rather subjected to all kinds of inhumane societal mischief, and unending life-struggle. Its for this reason that we have launched a campaign to award the top boy child in every KCPE examination as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy plan,”said Kang’arua.

The Nairobi-based regional roofing materials manufacturer has pledged to support Mwangi’s education for the next four years.

“Eugene is set to join Alliance High School and will ensure that his stay at the school is very smooth but we only require from him is hard work to ensure that he achieve his best after the four years,” explained Kang’arua.
