Three Kenyans abducted by dreaded Mai-Mai rebels in DRC

Three Kenyan truck drivers and 21 Tanzanians have been kidnapped by rebels while heading to Namoya gold mine in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The three Kenyans and 21 Tanzanians were driving trucks belonging to two Tanzania-registered companies when they were taken by the Mai-Mai, a militia group in DRC that has clashed repeatedly with Congolese army.

In September, 2016 the militia group abducted eight drivers and scorched four Tanzanian trucks in South Kivu.

Congolese army is fighting the Mai-Mai rebels in South Kivu the operation which has so far left 12 people dead.
