Police have identified Shinyalu, Bungoma, and Busia towns as potential violence hot spots during this year's elections.

Western Regional Police Coordinator Moses Ombati said the just-concluded party primaries had helped police to identify areas which are prone to violence.

He noted that during the Ford Kenya and Jubilee primaries in Sirisia, security agencies impounded two vehicles carrying eight people armed with 'crude' weapons.

He cautioned leaders against funding criminal gangs during the electioneering period.
