Feedback: Karua accuses Raila of hypocrisy in graft war

Gichugu MP Martha Karua (pictured) is a worse hypocrite than Prime Minister Raila Odinga. When she was the Justice minister, what did she do or say to fight corruption?

{Sunday, UK}

As an anti-corruption crusader, Karua should have led the onslaught against Raila’s selectivity at the right time. You were Justice minister then and were in the best position to pass judgements about corruption and those fighting it, selectively or otherwise. Would you prefer the PM to not ask for Prof Sam Ongeri’s resignation since the latter is PNU?

{John Osoro, US}

Raila could be right saying that Ongeri should quit because he (Ongeri) failed to supervise efficiently. However, Raila is in charge of supervising all ministries and we would, therefore, also ask him to quit for failing to do his job.

The PM must be impartial when fighting graft. There are ministerial guidelines and protocol in dealing with these matters. Rebuking Ongeri and Karega in public is politicking.

Where was the PM when the country was being ripped of maize and petroleum?? As ODM leader, the PM should have sacked Agriculture Minister William Ruto. Graft is graft, whether big or small, PNU or ODM.

Karua should let Raila do his work. The man is trying his best. Both are speaking the same language that will make Kenya better.

Karua is only trying to be relevant now she has lost the trappings of power after a miscalculated move.

She was a powerful minister and did nothing about the Triton and maize scandals.

Doublespeak is one trait that Raila is intent on perfecting. While Ruto was untouchable due to his political background, Ongeri, on the other hand, comes from a region where presidential votes are always split evenly among candidates.

Thus Raila can fight him without fear of jeopardising his presidential ambitions.
