Journalists face huge hurdles

Journalists are supposed to be society’s watchdogs as they disseminate information for public consumption.

Unfortunately, they face a rocky path with some being blocked from doing their job through coercion and being killed.

The brutal murder of a freelance journalist, Francis Nyaruri in Kisii comes to mind. Several others have also being detained in the line of duty.

How can the nation develop if those who are tasked with providing enlightenment are given a black out?

Scribes need to be given due respect as they perform their duties just like the rest of Kenyans are respected in their jobs.
