Hundreds in Mandera protest alleged illegal presence of Jubaland forces in the border town

3rd September, 2025

Hundreds of Mandera residents on Monday staged protests against what they described as the illegal presence of Jubbaland forces in the border town. The demonstrations, concentrated around the Border Point One area, saw locals accuse the foreign troops of displacing families and leaving vulnerable groups behind to struggle for survival. Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has criticized President William Ruto’s silence on the matter, terming it blatant territorial interference by Jubbaland forces.
