Countdown to 2027 General Elections officially begins

Kenya has officially entered the final one-year countdown to the 2027 General Election, with political parties and leaders stepping up preparations ahead of the crucial polls.

The countdown comes as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) intensifies preparations, including reviewing electoral laws, conducting by-elections and implementing its roadmap for the 2027 elections.

Political parties are also positioning themselves for the contest, with alliances and coalitions taking shape as leaders seek to build strong formations ahead of the presidential and other elective races.

The period is expected to bring increased political activity, with Kenyans closely watching how the IEBC, political parties and other stakeholders prepare for a peaceful, transparent and credible election.
