Catch the Sercombe Express if you can...

By WINDSOR LASS

An impossible task was set for other rivals to catch the Sercombe Express train tomorrow (Sunday).

Mother Patsy had to endure some medical treatment, but her horses certainly dribbled their way into the winner’s enclosure, tallying five, with numerous placings. Mary Binks and John Hawley were recipients of doubles, while Mim Haynes clipped her regular single.

Leslie Sercombe is to be applauded with a blast of eight strikes in two consecutive meetings, five last weekend. This puts her on an even wicket to climb up the ranks to another Championship.

Oliver Gray and his Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, were brave to enter their maiden Roxanne (Jacob Lokorian), in the Falcon Handicap, housing seasoned winners. Roxanne did not scrape the barrel.

She won convincingly by 4.5 lengths from Tiffany Blue. It was Roxanne, and, Emperor’s Gold (Josphat Kultiang), who literally prevented the Sercombe stable from a seven race clean sweep.

Emperor’s Gold led Thunder King in Ostrich style over 1,400m. Thunder King has been favoured so many times, this second was slot was encouraging.

Diamond Harry (Daryl Jacob 6-1), Burton Port (Gerraghty 7-1), and Denman (Thomas 11-2), rallied together in the $100,000 Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury, 3.4 miles, but were desperately fatigued by touch down.

Denman received the loudest applause, carrying top weight, but Diamond Harry seemed to be in pole position throughout the gruelling test. Harry is a strong type that runs away with his riders on the gallops, then settles quite decently in main events.

Next relevant jump fixture is the King George VI at Kempton Park December 26, when Kauto Star will attempt to slice history books with his esteemed C.V. Ngong features the Uhuru Cup, H.V. Pirie, and Brigade of Guards, December 19.
