The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been allowed to proceed with the Sh423 million contract for communication consultancy ahead of the August 8 polls.

The Public Procurement and Administrative Review Board (PPARB) decision cleared the way for IEBC to roll out media campaign to sensitise and educate voters two weeks to the General Election.

Chaired by lawyer Paul Gicheru, the board, dismissed complaints by Transcend Media Group that IEBC failed to disclose its budget for the services.

The board ruled that there was no evidence to prove that IEBC violated procurement regulations in awarding the contract to Scanad Kenya.

The board asked IEBC not to waste time setting up the media campaign.
