Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga wants her security both at the office and residence beefed up.

She wants Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to reinstate two Administration Police officers who were guarding her home. The officers were withdrawn in 2013.

With the 2017 General Election fast approaching, she said leaders deserved adequate security.

"We want the police to beef up our security detail," she told The Standard.  She complained about her office security, which is provided by county askaris.

She vowed to protest if her concerns are not addressed with immediate effect. "I won't sit back and suffer in silence. I will protest until my security is beefed up," Ms Odinga declared.

A month ago, gangsters broke into her rural home in Nyahera and made away with electronics and other household goods.

The deputy governor was not at home when the incident happened. Nyanza police co-ordinator Willy Lugusa later told the press that they would beef up security at the home.
