Standard Group has begun rewarding newspaper vendors countrywide who made the highest sales in the last three months.

Those who emerged winners in Nairobi in the Shinda Karo na The Standard promotion that started in April received cumulative awards worth Sh1,870,000 on Tuesday night.

Winners pocketed between Sh5,000 and Sh70,000 on top of their daily commission earnings. They will use the winnings for their children's education needs.

Speaking at the event, Standard Group Head of Marketing Doreen Mbaya said the promotion aimed to recognise vendors who exhibited a remarkable increase in sales based on their average sales in January, February and March.

Group General Manager in charge of Sales and Distribution, Moses Ocholla, noted that the volume of newspapers sold each day had increased during the last three months.

And Standard Group Head of Human Resource Nicholas Siwatom said the company was committed to recognising hardworking employees and motivating them through awards.

Onditi Zebedeo was recognised for posting exceptional sales and bagged Sh70,000 while Daudi Soingei walked away with Sh50,000.
