Man shot in robbery at petrol station in Nairobi

A gang has shot and injured a petrol station attendant during a robbery on Bunyala Road in Nairobi.

Four gangsters drove to Oilibya petrol station on Saturday night and after their vehicle had been filled, they whipped out guns and demanded cash.

Police say the attendant was shot after he resisted surrendering the money.

The gang grabbed Sh10,000 from the injured attendant and sped off.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said the gang seemed to have been on the run.

Hunt is on

"We are doing all we can to ensure they are caught. The injured attendant is in stable condition," said Mr Koome.

In Buru Buru, police are investigating an incident in which an escaping suspect dropped a pistol that has been found to belong to police.

The incident happened on Saturday night when a house break-in failed after an alarm went off.

Those who responded to the alarm gave chase before one of the gangsters dropped the pistol.

Elsewhere, property worth thousands of shillings was destroyed in a fire incident in Hamza, Nairobi.

Police says the cause of the fire was not established.
