Charles Owino has been returned to police headquarters as the Kenya Police spokesman.

Owino will replace Ziporah Mboroki who moved to the stores section as the officer in charge.

The changes were announced by National Police Service Commission and communicated to the affected officers through the Inspector General's office.

Owino has been in charge of security in Kisumu County. He was moved there from Ndhiwa last year. Before then he had served as the OCPD Njoro from mid-2013 in changes that were seen controversial.

In the changes announced Friday, Geoffrey Maiyek was moved from Mombasa to Rift Valley as the deputy regional coordinator, while Central deputy OCPD Kiprotich Beren was moved to replace Maiyek.
