William Ruto takes up new role as Acting President at Harambee House

Nairobi, Kenya: Acting President William Ruto held several meetings Tuesday at Harambee House Office in his new role.

Mr. Ruto met with the executive director of United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPs), Ms Grete Faremo, accompanied by United Nations Development Programme resident representative Nardos Bekele-Thomas.

Present at the meeting was the UNOPs director Africa Regional Office Garry Conille.

Ms Faremo said UNOPs will continue to support the Government’s Vision 2030 programme through the United Nations Development Assistance Fund.

She added that UNOPs will share its expertise with Kenya and assist in infrastructure development, devolution, healthcare, renewable energy and procurement.

In a separate meeting, the Acting President also met the Kenya National High Commission for UNESCO officials led by Dr. Evangeline Njoka.

The officials briefed the Mr Ruto on preparations to celebrate 50 years of UNESCO in Kenya. The celebrations will be held in Paris, France, the headquarters of the organization.

The Acting President also had a brief meeting with Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and Technology Fred Matiang’i.

Earlier, the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua briefed the Acting President.
