Kimaiyo picked for top police post, awaits house approval

President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga have nominated David Kimaiyo for the post of Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service. The two principals have since forwarded the name of Kimaiyo to Parliament for debate and approval by MPs.

House Speaker Kenneth Marende yesterday directed the name of the nominee, the accompanying curriculum vitae and the report of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) be forwarded to Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security for consideration prior to approval by House.

“The committee is directed to proceed with dispatch and table its report to the House on or before Thursday,” he directed. NPSC nominated three candidates each for the positions of Inspector General of Police, two deputies and CID. Kimaiyo emerged the best followed by his deputy
