I am proud of my country despite its many setbacks

This was another local tourism week where a couple of friends and I got to sample Kenyan delights outside the traditional tourism circuit. My natural inclination is always to head West but this time we decided to try out the East and so took the scenic route that takes you from Thika towards Garissa.

Two things strike you once on this road, one is just how much the road network has improved and two, just how Thika town has spread out. There are all manner of gated communities and huge malls on the way towards the Ukambani towns of Kithimani, Mwingi and Matuu.
