NCA acts on former MP's privacy issues to no avail

The National Construction Authority has taken action following complaints of breach of privacy by former Alego Usonga MP Otieno Mak’Onyango.

Mak’Onyango had accused his neighbour of breach of privacy for setting up a flat in front of his house sometime in 2022.

But after several follow-ups the authority had not acted until late December when The Nairobian revealed the former lawmaker’s attempts to raise the matter for seven months.

On December 20, NCA visited the site and left some marks indicating that construction of the building should be suspended.

“NCA officers came and condemned the building, this was the second time for them to do that,” Mak’Onyango stated.

“The writings are on the wall but some materials are being ferried to the site. I suspect that there are ongoing works silently.”

The former MP says this could be a silent move to counter any move like a lawsuit so that they will say the complaint came a little bit too late.

“My appeal to the authorities is to stand firm on their directives to save Kenyans from impunity,” he said.

When the authority first stopped the construction last year, Mak’Onyango said no one shared with him the report that was used to condemn the construction.

On December 19, NCA Executive Director Maurice Akech confirmed they had received the former MP’s complaint.
