Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's sister Kristina Pratt was at State House on Monday, April 24, for a meeting with President William Ruto.

When pictures of Pratt and President William Ruto at the State House emerged online, Kenyans were curious to know the reason behind their meeting.

The Standard has established that Pratt was leading the board of Trustees of the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya (NFDK) for a meeting with President Ruto.

Following the meeting, the government pledged to support People Living with Disabilities (PWDs) by empowering institutions that support the group.

The details of the meeting were shared by Ruto on his official Twitter page.

"Met the Board of Trustees of the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya, led by chairperson Kristina Pratt, State House, Nairobi," Ruto tweeted.

"The Government will support people living with disabilities and the institutions that work to empower them. We will keep our promises to this community and ensure it is a full part of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda," he said.

The NFDK was established by former president Moi in 1980 and it provides financial assistance and equipment to disabled individuals and to institutions working with the disabled.

The fund receives revenue through rent generated from two buildings it owns in Nairobi; The Rehema house and the new Rehema house.

Pratt was appointed Chairperson of the board in 1992 by former president Moi. Moi utilised funds to purchase its first commercial building in Nairobi's Central Business District, Rehema House.
