Lox: I was threatened in the CBD with a syringe

Lox De Chiz (LDC), a member of the 254CMG, is a rapper, hip-hop singer, song writer, activist, and entrepreneur based in Nairobi.

His music focuses on human rights, love, unity, spirituality and social issues. LDC wouldn’t consider himself an expert on any of these subjects but he wants to share his experiences that have assisted in the constant process of personal transformation and healing.

He believes that self-expression, art and music helps us heal and learn and will be the vehicle by which our culture can evolve to a world that works for all.

But being a newbie in the streets of Nairobi, a while back, Lox found himself in the middle of a hot soup as he encountered a needle-wielding gang that went away with his phone.

“I will not say I was quite a newbie but I was naïve. On this particular day I met a guy who asked for my phone to make a call. I didn’t think twice and I gave him the phone which he never even bothered to make the supposed call,” Lox narrates his ordeal.

He tried to get his phone back but the guy didn’t even bother. “I tried asking for my phone back but this guy kept walking like nothing had happened but the moment I became a nuisance, he drew a syringe full of blood and threatened to inject me with the stuff that was in.

“I had already had heard such stories but I had never fallen victim. This day I watched my phone disappear helplessly as I couldn’t do anything. I cut me loses and moved on,” he says

This was almost a similar scenario where allegedly gangs used to involve the use of syringes laced with poison placed on bus seats.
