Since 2003, the ministry has been headed by Christopher Murungaru, John Michuki, George Saitoti, Yusuf Haji,  Joseph Ole Lenku, Joseph Nkaissery, Fred Matiang’i and Kithure Kindiki, each leaving a distinct imprint on the country’s security landscape.
