Healthcare workers have a reason to celebrate after the country recorded zero deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

However, the war is not over as the country recorded an additional 124 new cases in the same period, raising the national tally of positive cases to 96,802.

The numbers come from a sample size of 2,855 bringing the total number of tests conducted to 1,055,691.

Of the new cases, 100 are Kenyans while 24 are foreigners.

A statement from the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday shows that 72 of the people who have tested positive are male while 52 are female. The youngest among them is a three-month-old infant while the oldest is 86.

Fortunately, 216 patients have recovered from the disease, 178 from the Home-Based Care Programme, while 38 have been discharged from various hospitals. This increases the cumulative recoveries to 79,073.

The MOH has also apologised for a previous error in the cumulative number of recoveries that have been presented to the public.

There are 650 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 2,934 on Home Based Isolation and Care.

Twenty-Six patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 12 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 11 on supplemental oxygen. Three patients are on observation.

Another 19 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen in general wards. No patients have been admitted in the High-Dependency Unit (HDU) another big milestone for health workers.
