Inter Milan 'in talks' over swap deal to offload Man United flop Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez's time at Inter Milan could be coming to an abrupt end just five months after completing a permanent move.

The Chilean striker spent a year on loan at the San Siro after flopping at Man United, who eventually terminated his contract last summer.

Inter snapped Sanchez up on a free transfer as the forward penned a three-year deal worth a reported £28million over its duration.

However, it now appears the 32-year-old could be moving on again, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Inter are in discussions with Roma over a potential swap deal.

The arrangement would see ex-Man City striker Edin Dzeko, 34, move in the opposite direction.

Sanchez has started just 10 of his 19 appearances for Inter so far this season, scoring twice and providing two assists in that time.

It was only on Saturday that Sanchez made his 50th appearance for the club in the Serie A clash with Udinese.

But boss Antonio Conte hinted in December he has become frustrated with the forward's "constant" injuries, which is a remarkably different tone to the one he offered upon Sanchez's permanent arrival.

At the time of signing him, Conte said: "The club deserve credit because he came at the worst moment of his career.

"He arrived after two difficult years when he was really struggling at United and then got injured with us.

"We took the time to get him back on track, so it is only right for Inter to enjoy it and reap the rewards of that effort."

Those rewards now appear to have been reaped already, at least in the eyes of Conte, who is happy to sanction a switch to land Dzeko in his place.

The Roma star has hit the back of the net eight times this season having played just one game more than Sanchez.

And despite his advancing years, the Bosnian fired 19 goals for his club last season - the same as Sanchez has mustered in the previous three campaigns combined.

That said, it remains to be seen how Conte will pair another out-and-out striker with current No.9 Romelu Lukaku, or whether Dzeko is arriving as back-up.
