Mbuthia wins the Old Mutual Nyeri leg

Nyeri Club chairman, Patrick Mbuthia led by example as he claimed the overall winner prize of the 2023 Old Mutual Golf circuit second leg at the par-72, Nyeri Golf Club course on Friday.

In form Mbuthia, playing off handicap 11, posted similar scores of 35 nett from both nines for a sterling final score of 2-under-70 to lift the coveted title at his home course.

The corporate club nite was sponsored by Old Mutual being the second one after the coastal leg which was hosted at Nyali Golf and Country Club in late August.

After two successful legs in Nyali and Nyeri, the tournament moves to Ruiru Sports Club on November 11, 2023 after that it heads to Kenya Railway Golf Club - on November 23, 2023, and VetLab Sports Club on December 6, 2023, before winding up at Karen Golf and Country Club - December 14, 2023.

Coming in second on 71(37+34) nett was Arthur Kamau playing off handicap 22 after edging out overall winner second Joel Githanda on a score of 71 nett.

Leading in Division two was handicap 32, Jacob Kingori with 70 nett.

Erick Njagi, playing off handicap 24, was the best among Old Mutual EA Group staff golfers upon returning 79 nett ahead of the Staff winner second, Onassis Ndegwa, playing off handicap 6 who carded 80 nett.

Handicap six, Richard Kibicho, inked the day's best nett score of 2-under par-69 to bag the Best Amateur prize.

Winning the First and Second nines were Angelo Nderi and James Wakibia with 32 and 33 nett, respectively.
