Bournemouth midfielder Jordon Ibe has apologised after flouting lockdown rules to get a haircut.

The former Liverpool player faces an internal investigation after posting a picture on Instagram of himself getting a trim

In the picture, which Ibe has now taken down, he could be seen wearing a coat bearing the slogan 'Breaking the rules'.

Both he and the barber are wearing face masks, and Ibe has said he didn't realise he was breaching lockdown rules.

“I didn’t think it through and I apologise," said the 24-year-old in a statement. "I made sure to wear protective equipment but I didn’t realise it was in breach of the guidelines.

“There wasn’t any intent to disobey the guidelines and as soon as it was brought to my attention, I took the post down immediately.”

Bournemouth confirmed they have launched an internal investigation, and the midfielder faces the prospect disciplinary action.

“We are aware of a social media post made by one of our players," a club spokesman said in quotes reported by The Sun.

“We have launched an internal investigation, the outcome of which will remain confidential.”

Ibe is the second Premier League star this week to land himself in trouble by getting a haircut.

Tottenham's Serge Aurier has hit back after he was criticised for what appeared to be another lockdown breach from the defender.

Aurier posted a picture on Instagram after receiving a haircut, in which he could be seen posing with what looked to be a barber.

After being slammed over the picture, Aurier said on Instagram: "My hairdresser is negative and me too so stop talking in a vacuum and put on masks and gloves when you come to take pictures at the training center its part of the rules too."

Aurier had already been caught flouting lockdown rules when he and Moussa Sissoko met up to train.
