Dagoretti High, Langata and Soweto Academy retained their regional titles yesterday as curtains came down on this year's Nairobi Region Secondary Schools Term Two games at Lenana School.

Dagoretti High proved their mettle as they overpowered the big boys to win football trophies. Two goals in each half saw them overcome Jamhuri 4-0 to retain their under 19 football crown and secure their second appearance at the National Term Two games set for Kisumu next month.

Dagoretti High coach Joseph Makokha said it's not yet party time for them. "We will begin preparing for the national games because we want to improve on last year's fourth-place finish. Our target was to defend our regional title," Makokha said.

Paul Odhiambo and Marko Deng bagged a brace each for Dagoretti High to secure regional ticket. In under 16 category, Kubasu Abuyeka's 16th-minute goal was enough to Dagoretti High wrest the title from Upper Hill.

Dagoretti Mixed dominated girls' football as they bagged the two titles. In under 19 contest, Dagoretti Mixed hammered former national champions Olympic Mixed 7-1 to pick the ticket.

Joyce Nyokabi, Fasila Odhiambo and Irene Imbebi scored two goals with Damaris Atieno adding one while Lindah Atieno gave Olympic the consolation goal.

Dagoretti Mixed edged out Panganj Girls 5-2 to win the under 16 crown. Joy Kanja and Joan Ondulo netted a brace with Mary Atieno scoring one while Pascol Suyo and Loyce Mapenzi scored a goal each for Pangani.

In volleyball, Langata High and Soweto retained their titles after triumphing in their respective finals. Langata rallied from two sets down to dismiss Ruthimitu 3-2 (19-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 16-14) in a thrilling encounter.

Soweto beat Brownhill 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-8) to win their fourth straight title. Baba Dogo were crowned netball champions following their 45-27 win over Kariobangi North.
