Brazilian football fans at the Olympic stadium took the chance to poke fun at eternal rivals Argentina, evoking their age-old debate over who's the best player, Pele or Maradona.

A chant of "Pele scored more than 1,000 goals... Maradona just snorted cocaine," rang around the stadium as supporters entertained themselves during Portugal's 2-1 win over Honduras.

Three-time World Cup winner Pele had been the favourite to light the Olympic flame at Friday's opening ceremony before having to rule himself out to due health issues.
