Daniel Mule is officially the new AFC Leopards chairman after he was elected during the club’s peacefully conducted elections at the Kasarani Gymnasium in Nairobi on Sunday.

Mule, who has served as co-chairman alongside Matthew Opwora on the Interim Management Committee, garnered 1,160 votes to beat Maurice Amahwa (822) and former Football Kenya Federation vice chairman Robert Asembo (119).

Mule will serve as AFC chairman for the next three years deputised by Felix Shitsama (1,613 votes).

Oscar Igaida (832) was elected as the new secretary general as Timothy Lilumbi (920) bounced back into the Ingwe leadership after flooring Gilbert Selebwa (914) and Noah Wanyama (256) for the hotly contested Organising Secretary post.

Oliver Imbenzi is the new treasurer assisted by Justus Makabila, while Elijah Stazo will serve as the assistant secretary general.

The trio of Irine Karani (1,032), Shida Abwao Saul (963) and Sikuku Oliver Sammy (923) were elected as new committee members.

IMMENSE SUPPORT

In an interview with Feverpitch after his victory, Mule thanked the delegates for their immense support and vowed to reward their faith in him by taking the club to the next level.

“First of all, I would like to thank God for everything. It is not Mule who has won, but football and the entire AFC Leopards fraternity. I thank all the delegates who voted for me and those who didn’t.

“It is now time to work and take the club to the next level,” said a jubilant Mule.
